Remanence (2023)

“The invisible and elusive nature of time makes our world and our bodies merely observations of time through the lens of memory.”

Made specially for EUREKA! at the Waterliniemuseum, an interdisciplinary exhibition where art meets science, archive and architecture, Remanence is a video intallation about history and memory.

still from Remanence

By comparing the macro history of UNESCO heratige Fort bij Vechten, with the micro history of personal memories, I aim to explain how time continues to play a lasting role in our lives. Based on several inventions by Simon Stevin that can be found at the fortress, and are still used today, personal stories are told that can still influence a person.
