“Tempore, being the ablative singular of the noun tempus, temporis, ‘time’, thus meaning in the time (of)“
After being under construction for over 5 years, the iconic Utrecht Dom tower finally shed its iron skin of construction this summer. To celebrate, I created Tempore as part of the exhibition The Dom Tower Unraveled.

Tempore is inspired by the iconic Dom tower in the heart of Utrecht. With its shape referencing the pinnacles at the top of the tower, the ornament is transformed into a canvas. The artwork therefore invites the viewer to carve their signature into its surface, as to become part of the history of Utrecht themselves. Just like the Dom tower, the artwork aims to represent Utrecht and its inhabitants, to capture our own mortality in the timelessness of the icon.
